Put Moray on the Olympic map

We may be a long way from London, and we may be only on the edge of the official Olympic Torch route, but that’s not going to stop us from celebrating the 2012 Olympic Games coming to the UK this year! We’re organising five events for the people of Moray to take part in and enjoy in the lead up to and during the official Olympic Games events in London.

Our Moray Events are:

• A Torch Relay around Moray’s main towns & villages, involving 2,012 people, between 8-13th June.
• A 10K on 4th August in Buckie.
• A 3K on 8th August in Elgin.
• Street relay races on 10th August in Forres.
• A 5K on 11th August in Dufftown.

The Torch Relay in Moray will occur during the same time as the official torch is making its way around Scotland.
The four August events will take place just a few hours ahead of the actual events in London. After the Moray events, participants will gather together for our own podium ceremonies and also to watch the Olympic events on a big screen.
